I can’t remember what it was I was going to do today. I got all distracted and I sewed a little sweater for the baby instead! I altered a commercial pattern for a jumpsuit. The size was marked as small, for a 13-15 lb baby, but it looks huge! Who knows. I would love to find a good baby pattern making book or set of blocks to work from for my future baby clothing adventures.  I find commercial patterns to be so unreliable, and their excessive 5/8″ seam allowance is always annoying. She’ll be able to wear it eventually- maybe for those late summer cool nights. Or maybe not until she is 2? I have no concept of baby sizing yet.

I used fabric that I had already silk screened for a project that had been put on the back burner. The screen is a leaf less forest that I had made for me a few years ago, and it hasn’t seen nearly enough use. I added a couple of cute vintage  patches- one owl on the front, and a butterfly on the back. I have a huge collection of vintage owl patches- see picture below. I bought a small lot of them off ebay a while back, and was sent an insane amount. Like hundreds.

Here’s the front-

The owl patches.  What am I supposed to do with all these owls??

It was a fun project. I’ve never made baby clothes before, and  I can feel that this is only the beginning my friends.

Time to take the little sweater home, and hang it on a little hanger, in her little closet. Oh, the littleness. It’s all so cute, it hurts my insides.
